Just finished, the paint is still wet and will dry to a nice even matte finish.
If you don't like the flames, I can easily change it. Fire tools are included.

This is the second of this Hutch "REBEL" version I've done... they are built like tanks. As I did to the first, I added a second row of firebricks in the firebox which allows longer burn times, retains more heat while protecting the metal at the same time (see photo).

It was heavily sanded, wire wheeled, and brushed down to remove old paint and light surface rust, then thoroughly inspected for cracks or anything suspicious. After inspection, new firebricks are installed... a new 1/4" baffle plate was installed at this point too. The floor brick get an ash & water mix packed tightly into the joints... similar to mortar which prevents heaving up over time.
I've reconditioned enough stoves and witnessed floors raised up close to 3/4" before removing the old bricks. All stoves... Hutch, Kodiak, Alaska, Baker, and Quadra-Fire can do it... which is why I take this step.
Folks who've purchased from me, and repeat customers have given me nothing but positive feedback about how well this works.

Then comes surface preparation and paint. It was wiped down twice with acetone to remove dust and oils before receiving 4 coats of extreme high temperature (1200°) paint, detailed, and are then ready for decades of use.

There's at least one of my stoves in every state touching Pennsylvania as people have traveled to buy a stove or 2 from me... one family from Maryland bought 3.
